How to use

Peel the backing, position the pad centrally on dry underwear and fold the wings under the fabric. Change every four to six hours during the day and again before bed. Wash and dry your hands each time. Wrap the used pad in its own wrapper and place it in a bin; never flush it. Carry a spare in a clean wrapper or small pouch. On the first heavy days, plan changes rather than waiting until you feel wet, and change straight after sport, a long journey or swimming.

Important warnings

Skin irritation during a period is far more often caused by leaving a pad on too long, by fragrance, or by an underlying yeast infection than by the pad brand itself. If itching, burning or an unusual discharge persists after the period ends, come to the pharmacy for advice rather than cycling through brands. Heavy bleeding that soaks a pad within two hours, clots larger than a fifty-shilling coin, periods longer than seven days, or dizziness and breathlessness during your period should be assessed for heavy menstrual bleeding and iron deficiency anaemia. Bleeding between periods, after sex or any bleeding after menopause always needs a doctor's assessment.

Storage

Keep the pack sealed and dry, in a drawer or covered box rather than on an open bathroom shelf, away from humidity, dust and strongly perfumed items. Individual wrappers should stay intact until the moment of use, since they are what keeps the pad clean. Discard any pack that has become wet, torn or dusty rather than using it.
