Bactized 1000mg tablets contain Amoxicillin 875mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg, a combination antibiotic used to fight susceptible bacterial infections.
They are commonly used for infections of the ears, sinuses, throat, chest/lungs, skin, teeth and urinary tract.
Take with food and exactly as prescribed; complete the full course and avoid use if you have a serious penicillin allergy.
Take exactly as your prescription states, with a full glass of water, and keep the intervals between doses even through the day. A 1000 mg antibacterial tablet is usually a twice-daily medicine, which makes a pack of ten a five-day course, but follow what your prescriber has written rather than assuming. Complete every tablet even once the fever and pain have settled, and never keep the remainder for a future illness or pass them to a family member.
Prescription only. Tell the pharmacist about any antibiotic allergy, especially to penicillins, before this is dispensed, and mention kidney or liver disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and every other medicine you take. Stop and get emergency help for swelling of the face, lips or tongue, wheezing or a rash that blisters. Severe, watery or bloody diarrhoea during or in the weeks after the course must be reviewed rather than treated at home. Return for review instead of finishing the pack if you are no better after three days, or if you develop a high fever, confusion, breathlessness or a spreading skin infection.
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from steam, direct sunlight and heat, and out of reach of children. Keep the tablets in their foil blister until each dose, particularly if the formulation contains clavulanate, which is degraded by moisture. Do not use after the expiry date on the pack.
