Description
Esofag-D is a prescription combination medicine containing esomeprazole 40 mg and domperidone 30 mg sustained-release. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid, while domperidone helps improve movement of food through the upper digestive tract and reduces reflux-related symptoms.
It is primarily used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), where stomach acid flows back into the food pipe and can cause heartburn and irritation. Esomeprazole may also be used for acid-related ulcers, including ulcers associated with H. pylori infection, where antibiotics are prescribed separately to eradicate the infection.
